Alora is a not-for-profit organization run by students in Cambridge that sells high quality, handmade bespoke gowns and dresses.
The proceeds are used to fund a tailoring school on the outskirts of Hanoi, where vulnerable women gain the skills to earn a comfortable living.
In 2011-2012 we will fund and oversee the education of 3 women, 2 of whom suffer from sever physical disabilities. By the end of the year we hope to have another 2 women in full time training and to have begun to educate the women in how to run a successful business. Our long term goal is to establish a shop called Against All Odds, where the women trained by the school can work and offer the same tailoring service to tourists in the city.
